Now, 16 years into her career and still grooming around her academy commitments, she wants to support other women to find the balance she now has, but hopefully without going through so many of the mistakes.
By combining her 16 years of grooming experience with her higher education in Maths, studies in customer service and marketing and most importantly her role as a “Juggling all the plates business owning mum”, she’s created “The Grooming Goddess Academy”.

Hey, I'm Karen.
A professional dog groomer for 16 years, I realised one very important thing;
We don't have enough accessible support or training when it comes to the business side of things...
...how to market ourselves, talk to customers about their dogs, handle our finances and pricing, how to navigate motherhood and business, our hormones and business, how to set boundaries with our clients, even down to how to balance it all without feeling like we're constantly chasing our tails!
How many female dog groomers burn out in the first five years because it all becomes too much?
How much invested time and money is wasted, because our dreams have become a burden?Â
I want to clear everything off the table and help women reset! Either build or re-align their dog grooming businesses to be what they originally intended them to be.Â

I burned out in 2016, sold my business (but in all honesty, I was nearing the stage that sale or no sale, I wanted out) and I took time away from grooming.Â
When I returned, a mum of two, I did things so differently.
I created professional boundaries, and kept my values of work/life balance and career enjoyment front and centre at all times.
And yes, I also charged professional prices and earned enough to be financially independent of my partner, should I want to be.
How many female dog groomers still can't say that? How many are working full time hours yet still couldn't afford financial independence if needed?
We are worth so much more, individually and as an industry.Â
Every mistake I ever made has now become a lesson.Â
Every time a customer treated me like a "bored housewife" in a shed, has now become motivation.
I'm on a mission to help every dog groomer reading this, who sometimes feels it's all "too much" to know you are not alone!
